MADOR STORY Chapter 1 - Mador at home

Since 8 March 2004 we have Marzipan Vom Matthiasberg "Mador" at home. At first we did not know each other, but by now we get along very well.

It might seem unbelievable but it is true: he's "home safe" from the very first moment, he tells me when he needs to go out. He's got a very good character, stable nerves and also stable little legs. This is, undoubtedly, due to the Breeders, and I would like to thank Monika Nyitrai and Lajos Meszaros (here, again) for getting up in the middle of the night, preparing milk, taking the puppies in hand, playing with them, and also for the continuous communication and advices!

I think Mador has a beautiful little head (no, I'm not subjective), and of course I made a couple of pictures, what do you think?

It was rainy and snowy when we took him home. I have brought some towels in advance to have something with the reassuring smell of the litter. In the car Mador made some little noises which is understandable since it was the first time he was in the trunk, and we could not carress him due to the food and accessories. (On the long run I want him to travel in the trunk anyway). Mador produced nothing during the journey and I was very proud of him.

The same evening we had to go to the vet, to a town 17 kms from Budapest. There is no journey without adventures, so we had our share as well:
- We were about two streets from home, at the beginning, when I heard Mador come out of the trunk, and fall between the two seats (front and rear). Double yellow index lights, stop, and I took him back explaining he should stay there. From then on, there were no more noises, he just sat or laid down, sometimes watched traffic, and in general he was a very good boy.
- Snow just fell, streets in Budapest were rather moisturous but in the vet's town there were a lot of snow, especially in smaller streets. There is a little hill in front of the vet's street and my car said it would not go up there. I called the vet to "save" us but the solution was to back a bit and with some speed we could make it.

During the first two days I worried day and night: he's eating or not, making his 'job' or not, sleeping or not, etc. We woke up several times at night, and in consequence on the second/third day we slept together during the day...

The other issue was Alex, my 9-year-old caucasian ovtcharka dog. As long as we took little Mador home, he barked at him so loudly that the whole district could hear it. For several days I took Mador in my hands to his kennel. Alex barked, Mador barked back, he was not worried at all, he even took it for play and rushed around. I think they'll survive together... By now I let them out together, and if Mador plays at Alex's rules, there is no problem at all.

Yesterday Mador slept during the whole night, he made no noises (except for the play-barking). Wherever I go he comes with me, sits in front of me and looks up at me, he's so cute. When I work (home, with a laptop) he sits under my seat or lays down next to me and sleeps. It feels so good.

At last, I have a dog which is apport-crazy, playful and full of instincts. (Alex, at the time, watched the ball's parabolistic arch, laid down and looked at me as if saying: "What am I supposed to do with it?")
Mador loves any ropes, strings, since the very beginning, so ball with string and a big rope were good choices as toys for him. I also bought a tennis ball but I think he's just too small for it for the moment. When he catches the "prey" he would shake it ("shake to death"), then he goes away with it very proudly ("bring the prey to a safe place"). He's got very good instincts!

I'm very happy to have him home!
