MADOR STORY Chapter 2 - Our first show

Our first show was held on May 1st 2004. I do all my best to have a beautiful, healthy and happy dog so the day before the show we went to the cosmetician. I think it's very important what are Mador's impressions of the first bathing so I chose a cosmetician proposed by others at our neighborhood and she indeed did a very good job.

First, Mador and the cosmetician got to know each other, then we took Mador together into the shower. He let himself bath wonderfully. The big mountain coat is hard to get wet, the ends of the hair are wet but the skin is not - well this time we worked hard to wet him well. Other characteristic of the mountain coat is to dry quickly so we had to shampoo him twice, first in the front, then in the rear. Mador was sensational, sometimes he licked the cosmetician. He was very calm when drying, of course I carressed him all the way through, and we both talked to him. In a short one and a half - two hours we were ready and I had a beautiful peluche dog!

I prepared well for the show in advance, both with phisycally and mentally. I decided what to wear (blue-green checkered scarf that suits well Mador's blue-green leash, even blue-green patterned fingernails...). I put everything in the car I thought might be useful (or not): blanket, chairs, plastic bowls to drink and eat, food, dog brush, toys, extension cord and hair dryer (we have not used them), umbrella and sunglasses (just to be sure, and yes I used both), manicure set, sandwiches, refreshments, photo camera, documents, start number, vaccination document, confirmation papers, Mador photos, business cards... and oh yes, the dog!

From the beginning Mador was the star of the show: people stopped and wondered him, absolutely unknown people took pictures of him, it felt fantastic! Mador had a heavenly patience towards everybody, he let himself carressed and talked to, those who came closer got some leo-licks, he had a pleasant tail-wag to everyone. He also learnt that when I left him I'd come back so (according to the others) he sat or laid down calmly. What a Wesen!

We both lacked routine at the judgement but maybe the previous practice could be seen, he paid attention to my hand (or to the bacon?) and he showed himselft very well. It was an extra pleasure to receive a big applause when circling in the ring from my husky-lover friends (thank you!)

I took pictures of the siberian huskies: my girlfriend Andi's dog Exy won Veteran BIS! Then came the baby BIS where we had to go, but I just arrived at the very last moment: this is a big lesson learnt, I'll not do this again... But still we made to best 5 out of 15 dogs and finally Mador became Baby R.BIS!

It was in itself fantastic that Andi's own-bred dog won the BIS title (Azeem The Greatest From Andrea's). Congratulations to Andi and Timi!!!

It's been a wonderful day...
