Millie herding

Millie has an excellent sense for herding, she is Hungary's first collie with HWT Herding Working Test and she even won her first herding competition!

Herding for me is a great leasure activity. We are outside in open air, with my family, and we learn something new together - it can even have a successful result!

Millie first met sheep in Tordas: Hungarian Racka sheep. I was very interested in how she would react and to my greatest pleasure she started to outrun the sheep in a beautiful large circle, trying to keep them together - it was wonderful to watch!

We gained our first experiences in a herding camp at Hódmezõvásárhely. Ildikó Szabó Koczkáné first let me (not the dog) in the pen to get out the merino sheep - I willnever forget my placements, experiences: I send the dog according to what I learnt here. We managed to practice the directions with hand and mouth whistle signals with the help of a little rounded pen.

We regularly go herding to Barbara Kiss in Vasad: each occasion we learn something. I started to really love herding when we started to consiously go the direction I wanted. It was an undescribable feeling when we were allowed to the unfenced area for the first time. Millie kept the sheep together wonderfully, and later she helped other dogs collect the sheep which wondered away. I would like to thank Barbi for her help and patience here again!

The next step was the Herding Instinct Exam HIE, then for the first time in Hungary we passed the official international FCI-HWT Herding Working Test! Location: Jászberény-Portelek, judged by Istvánné Patkó. I would like to thank the judge and Petra Szarvas and all the helpers and participants for their support.
